It’s fascinating to see tribal wars resurfacing again. An age /era where everyone wants an identity as a price to get what is truly theirs . It is brought to my awareness that our African roots are going through a rebirthing process and revealing deep ancestral traumas our forefathers have left behind. Meanwhile, not in any language of ours, defined a group of people as a tribe . Tribe isn’t in our language , it’s for the colonial masters. It was usually called our people by our people. We were cousins discovering earth as we took over lands , discovering resources and traded amongst ourselves .
When i travel to other neighbouring African countries and listen to their native language, i hear a common mother tongue resonating behind every tone
Our Ancestral languages are already compromised , we speak English, French and Spanish as our first language . As we speak their language we behave like them Tribe has divided us that we do not understand our People around Africa until we have to speak English , French or spanish. So we are damn confused here .
Evidence has shown that Igbo and Yoruba language was derives from the same parental Language. So also the Hausa Tribe. For example: Igbo imi/ Yoruba imu = ‘nose’; Igbo nti/Yoruba eti = ‘ear’; Igbo onu/ Yoruba enu = ‘mouth’; etc.

So also the Hausa Tribe. For example: Igbo imi/ Yoruba imu = ‘nose’; Igbo nti/Yoruba eti = ‘ear’; Igbo onu/ Yoruba enu = ‘mouth’; etc. I still don’t understand why my first language is English when I’m from the tribe of the delta and yoruba people. Unfortunately I cannot speak my dialect properly but I have been making alot of effort to connect to my roots by learning a lot of my culture, values and language. I am afraid that our indigenous language is going extinct and we still have a chance to restore back our true mother identity starting with learning our various african languages.
There is a communication issue right now and are communicating in English which is not our mother tongue
The schools in Africa , especially my country and our parents, are carried away from the importance of our native language. We were supposed to be taught our Mothers language and every other language of our people. I believe if we do this ,we become one language , one people , me society , one clan . Or should we continue arguing we are not one people? There is a communication issue right now and we are communicating in English which is not our mother tongue. Do we have a full understanding of English itself ?
